Coinbase - "System Update"
2D Animation Director
I helped lead a team at BUCK to create an anthem film for Coinbase that would stand apart from traditional media broadcast spots airing during the 2025 NBA finals. Inspired by the iconic ‘blue screen of death’ and MS-DOS ascii art, this spot hijacks the old, traditional banking system and reboots it into the world of Coinbase. With a Jamie xx music track, the anthem film is a fun, slightly irreverent party with easter eggs to the crypto world. To achieve the look, we created grayscale base animations with 3D and cel, which were then fed into particle systems in C4D, Cavalry, and After Effects for the letter-mapped effect.
